Township of Stone Mills Official Plan Update
Ontario’s Planning Act mandates that municipal Official Plan’s be reviewed and updated every five years to ensure it remains consistent with the latest provincial policies and plans. The review process provides local municipalities the opportunity to amend its policy direction as it relates to the land use planning perspective of the built and natural environments.
The review began in 2017. The Township of Stone Mills held multiple public Open Houses and Statutory Public Meetings to gather community input. With changing staff and the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, substantive revisions have been made to address the commentary received from members of the community, technical agencies and include updated policy direction with provincial legislation.
The Council of the Township of Stone Mills will hold a statutory public meeting in the future to consider the proposed comprehensive amendment update to the Official Plan. At this time, the draft document has been made available to members of community, technical and approval agencies for comment. As stakeholder input respecting such policy document is fundamental to its success, The Township of Stone Mills wishes to provide ample opportunity to policy consideration.
