Seeking Public Comment - Interim Control By-law
Interim Control By-law
On July 13, 2020, Township of Stone Mills Council voted in favour of a staff report to enact an Interim Control By-law (ICBL) respecting cannabis. The By-law is to allow for the opportunity to fully evaluate the land use planning implications of cannabis production and processing of cannabis within the Township. The By-law temporarily prohibits any land, building or structure from being used for the cultivation, production, processing or packaging of cannabis for a period of one (1) year with the possibility of extension.

Cannabis Production Facilities Land Use Study
Staff will use the duration of the ICBL period to undertake a land use study and consult with the public to determine how cannabis production facilities can be appropriately regulated within the Township. The land use study will be undertaken focusing on the land-use implications of cannabis production facilities, including but not limited to, odour, noise, light pollution, minimum setbacks, accessory uses, with an end goal of generating recommendations and by-law regulations applicable to the cultivation, production, processing or packaging of cannabis throughout the Township of Stone Mills.
Members of the public are encouraged to provide comment with respect to the above in advance of January 31, 2021 for inclusion within the land use study. Furthermore, commentary is welcomed throughout the duration of the ICBL.
