Lennox & Addington OPP Detachment Board

OPP Detachment Boards oversee how policing is provided in their local community. The four municipalities in Lennox and Addington County have partnered to establish the Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment Board to serve residents of Addington Highlands Township, Town of Greater Napanee, Loyalist Township and Stone Mills Township.

As set out in the legislation, the Lennox and Addington County OPP Detachment Board’s role includes:

  1. Participating in the selection of the Detachment Commander;
  2. Determining objectives and priorities for police services after consultation with the Detachment Commander;
  3. Advising the Detachment Commander with respect to policing provided by the Detachment;
  4. Monitoring the performance of the Detachment Commander;
  5. Reviewing regular reports from the Detachment Commander regarding policing provided by the Detachment, and
  6. Providing an annual report to the member municipalities regarding the policing provided by the Detachment in their municipalities.

Along with its legislated duties, the OPP Detachment Board is considered a bridge between the community and police. The board provides a venue for the local municipalities to coordinate and collaborate on strategies to address common issues.

The Lennox and Addington OPP Detachment Board will be composed of:

  • One (1) elected official from each of the four municipalities;
  • One (1) to jointly represent the communities of Addington Highlands Township and Stone Mills Township;
  • One (1) to jointly represent the communities of the Town of Greater Napanee and Loyalist Township.
  • One (1) member appointed by the Minister through the Public Appointments Secretariat.

If you are interested in serving on the OPP Detachment Board as a community representative, please submit an application by 2 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024. Alternate versions are available upon request. More information is available on the Applicant Information Sheet.
