Speaking at a Council Meeting

Council welcomes and encourages members of the public to speak on matters of interest to them at meetings. Individuals can address Council as a Delegation, during Open Forum or at a Public Meeting. 

Speaking as a Delegation

Individuals who want to speak at a Council meeting, can submit a delegation request using our online form. Request are required to be submitted by noon the Wednesday prior to the Council meeting one wishes to speak at.

Delegation will have 15 minutes to address Council. Prior to registering as a delegation, you may want to discuss your concerns with our staff as issues may be outside the Township’s jurisdiction and more appropriately brought before another level of government or public agency.

Speaking During Open Forum 

During Open Forum, any person may address Council on any matter that is listed on the agenda except items that will be subject to a statutory public meeting pursuant to the Planning Act on the same agenda.

Open Forum participants will have three (3) minutes to address Council.

Speaking During a Statutory Public Meeting

Any person who attends a public meeting may address Council on any item listed under Statutory Public Meeting without the provision of notice. Members of the public who wish to make oral submissions with respect to an application that is the subject of the statutory public meeting shall be limited to speaking not more than five minutes per person, per application.
