The dog house is framed with 2x2's - the dimensions must be appropriate to the size of your dog. Check with the OSPCA Ideal Doghouse brochure to determine proper sizing of the doghouse.
The floor has been constructed with 3/4 inch plywood and insulated underneath with 1 1/2 inch styrofoam. The ideal doghouse includes a double chamber, as shown.
Waterproof walls of 3/4 inch plywood, includes an outer door and an inner door to the inner chamber.
All walls and ceiling of inner chamber are insulated with 1 1/2 inch styrofoam to protect your dog from extreme cold with risk of frostbite.
Insulated walls are covered with 1/4 inch hardwood so the dog does not chew insulation. All walls are covered, one is left uncovered in the photo only to show builders there is insulation underneath.
Completed doghouse, exterior is painted with unleaded paint, roof is shingled, and insulated over the inner chamber area. Hinges allow for easy changing of bedding straw, which should be changed every few weeks.
